Motion
Product Code : SCL-MH-12590
Quick Answer: Motion is a kinematics and dynamics kit built round a 1.2-meter low-friction track with a weight-loading cart, a variable pendulum and a digital photogate timer. It covers uniform and accelerated motion, Newton’s second law, friction and the pendulum.

About This Product
On the track, students time the cart with the photogate to compare uniform and accelerated motion and to see how a larger pulling force changes acceleration. The friction blocks show how surface type affects motion, and the pendulum tests period against length at 25 cm, 50 cm and 100 cm, against mass with 50g and 100g brass and a nylon bob, and against amplitude at 5 degrees and 30 degrees. Educational Instrument can arrange export supply of the Motion to Uganda, Niger, South Africa, South Sudan and Latvia.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does the mass of the pendulum bob change its period?
No. With the length fixed at 50 cm, swapping the 50g brass bob for the 100g brass or nylon bob leaves the period unchanged.
How is the pendulum period measured?
Time 10 complete swings with the timer and divide by 10.
